Windows may say it “protected your PC”. It's just wary of new faces: click More info, then Run anyway. We're a small indie app without a paid code-signing certificate, so Windows hasn't been properly introduced yet.
01 / the loadout
A theme isn't just a wallpaper. Ornamentry sets every layer together and checks each one landed. If one doesn't, the whole change rolls back.
A snapshot before every change, all in History. The very first capture of your desktop is never deleted, so "how it was before" is always one click away.
Clock, timer, CPU, memory, network, disk. Drag them anywhere, scale them, fade them. Press Ctrl+Alt+X and clicks go straight through them.
Ornamentry runs as you, changes what your account is allowed to change, and never injects itself into Explorer.
Native code drawn on the GPU. No browser engine idling behind your wallpaper. One small exe, zero runtime dependencies. Widgets redraw only when what they show actually changes.
Every widget remembers which screen it lives on and follows that screen when you unplug and replug. Sharp at any DPI.
Export your entire setup as one .ornament file. Send it to a friend. They import it. Same desktop, zero screenshots-and-guesswork.
Count down to a launch, count up from a birthday, or just show the time. Any font, any colour, any unit from days to hundredths. Add as many copies as you want, each with its own settings.
The manager shows a live canvas of your desktop. Drag widget previews around, try things, and only then apply.
02 / how it works
Browse themes, wallpapers, widgets, cursor and icon packs, sound schemes and fonts in the manager.
Every layer changes together. No admin prompt, no reboot, no black screen while Explorer restarts.
Open History, pick any snapshot, and you're back there. Including the one from before you ever installed.
03 / the questions
It runs as your normal user account with no administrator rights, and it never injects code into Explorer or patches the Windows shell. Before it changes anything it takes a snapshot, so every change can be reversed.
That blue box is SmartScreen. It shows up for new apps that haven't paid for a code-signing certificate or been downloaded by enough people yet; it doesn't mean anything was found. Click More info, then Run anyway. Want to be sure the file is really ours? Compare its SHA-256 with the one next to the download button at the top of this page. Updates are fetched by the app itself and checked against a signed file before they install, so you'll only see the warning this once.
No. Everything Ornamentry changes is a per-user setting your account is already allowed to change. You won't see a UAC prompt.
It's native code drawn on the GPU, not a web page running behind your wallpaper. Widgets redraw only when something they show changes, and the Timer drops to once a second on battery or behind a fullscreen game. The manager shows its own running footprint in the status bar, so you don't have to take our word for it.

No. Themes apply live. Your taskbar doesn't vanish, your open windows stay put, and nothing needs a reboot.
Yes. Each widget remembers its monitor and follows it when displays are unplugged or rearranged, and each screen is handled at its own DPI.

Barely. Once a day it fetches one small file to see whether there's a new version. That's the whole conversation: no account, no ID, no usage stats, nothing about you or your desktop is sent. Don't want even that? Turn off Check for updates automatically in Settings.
